Summer Fun

Summer fun in Island Park includes a variety of activities. There is always lots to do depending on your creativity and your vacation budget. We hope these suggestions help.  We have a list of "area attractions to visit" in each of the cabins that offers more specific details.

A personal recommendation is the Yellowstone Playhouse located less than a mile south of the cabin on Highway 20.  A family friendly live dinner theater that includes a GREAT meal and a night of laugh-out-loud, 'til you cry fun!   Visit and make a reservation.  You will not regret it!

ATV/UTV riding

There are plenty of places to ride in Island Park. There are designated trails including the original railroad bed that ran from Ashton in the south to West Yellowstone in the north.  Bring your own or rent machines to get off the beaten path and enjoy beautiful Targhee National Forest. Rental businesses include: Island Park Adventures, Mountain Mayhem, and High Mountain Adventures. Each business will provide trail maps.  They can rent ATVs, Side X Side UTVs and safety equipment.

There are lots of beautiful places to hike in Island Park.  None of them are extreme and all are family friendly.  Try going to Mesa Falls, Sawtelle peak, Big springs trail, Box Canyon trail, and Harriman State Park. For more information go to

Floating the Rivers

There are lots of rivers in Island Park, but there are three main ones that are float-able. The three rivers are the Macks inn river, box canyon, and the buffalo river. However, two of those rivers you will need to bring your own inflatables. Which are the Box and the Buffalo. If you go to Mack inn resort they have rentals for you to rent and will transport you upstream to the top of the river. To see the cost of rentals go to  or
